Well the idea behind this article is for women to show what kind of engagement ring they would like to get and for men to maybe get that feedback which may help in making their choice as to which engagement ring to buy for their future fiancee.
Engagements do tend to have fashion trends but the trends tend to change more slowly than say clothing which can differ each year or even each season. However, there is also a lot of tradition involved in engagement rings with some men giving engagement rings tht may have belonged to their mother or grandmother (Williamd and Kate are a prime example of this).
So here I will show a selection of types of engagement rings and hope to get some votes eventually to show which ones women prefer.
The Price of Engagement Rings
The price of engagement rings can vary wildly and really depends on what you can afford to spend. You can even get a very realistic looking engagement ring maybe made from a cultured gem or cubic zirconia and sterling silver for under $50. Or you can get a genuine diamond or other precious stone engagement ring for tens of thousand of dollars.
Tradition is that you spend around 1 months wages on the engagement ring, but in this day and age people may be able to afford to spend more or less than this and only you know what your situation dictates. Most brides to be would not want you to put yourself in huge debt for an engagement ring, after all you are both in this for the long hall so any debt will be hers too in due course!

Great information.....it has been so long since I have thought about buying an engagement ring....where was this information when I was buying.....lol. My wife actually came up with a great idea....her engagement ring is 3 little diamonds then one big diamond and then 3 little diamonds....she actually replaced the big diamond with a cubic zirconia so she would not have to ever worry about the stone coming out....I appreciate all the information you put into this hub....voted up and awesome.
Thanks cogerson - I had a diamond fall out of a ring before but luckily it was insured so I managed to get it replaced. However the diamond was quite an old cut so it wasn't that easy.

Coming to the reality I will be engaged to myself, I have grown a liking to the canary yellow diamond, and want it at least 5 carats.
