Although we all try our best to get Christmas gifts that are friends and family will like, there will always be gifts that people get that they wonder why anyone would have thought they wanted them! Either that or people will get things that they already have or don't really need and would rather make some spare cash from selling on those gifts. So it is at this time of year that you will find many unwanted Christmas gifts at great prices.

Almost always these gifts are brand new and in their original packaging and will also still have any warranty that was applicable when it was bought. You will most likely not get the receipt otherwise the recipient will have taken the gift back but if you are looking for a great bargain, you may still find one.

Some things that you can get range from clothes to DVDs, electronics, jewellery, watches, handbags, in fact almost anything!

Where to Find Unwanted Christmas Gifts

There are a few places that you can look for unwanted Christmas gifts. If you see any garage sales in the neighborhood or car boot sales being held nearby shortly after Christmas then these can be good places to take a look round.

You can also look in the classified sections of local papers, or online and on such places as Craigslist. However, one of the most comprehensive selling places for unwanted Christmas gifts is of course eBay. You may be on the lookout for something specific in which case you can just search as normal for that item, but if you are looking for a bargain then add a search in for 'unwanted christmas gifts' and see what comes up - in fact to save you the trouble I have done exactly that below and you can see the first 5 items that come up for sale that are unwanted Christmas gifts. Some of these are at starting prices way below the market value as people are willing to take whatever money they can get for something that they may just want to get rid of.

Make Money From Unwanted Christmas Gifts

So not only could you make money from selling your own unwanted Christmas gifts, but also you may be able to make money from other people's. For example if you were to buy something from eBay at a price that is very much below market price then you may be able to sell it on for more either later in the year or by taking it to another kind of sale.

Or of course you could just save yourself money and buy these unwanted Christmas gifts as birthday or Christmas gifts for your friends and family - but ones that you know they will want!

You should make sure that what you are buying is genuine and new though. Check with the seller if it is not obvious in the listing that the item comes in it's original packaging and has not been used. There may be people about who are trying to sell things as new that are not.

In any case there are certainly bargains to be had so have a look and see what you can find.

I guess you can sell just about anything on eBay, and there are people around who will bid on it! But as you note, there are some good deals out there as well. I don't have any unwanted Christmas gifts to sell, but now I know there's a category on eBay that I can search under that might yield some bargains.

Very informative hub. Rated up and useful!

Thanks PW - I don't have any unwanted gifts either and I think I would feel too guilty putting them up for sale if I did but I will be checking out some of the stuff up on eBay to buy with the money I got :-)

Your right Azure as much as it is a thoughtful gesture there are times or gifts that go unused or unwanted. Very interesting ebay idea.
